Fall Vegetable Gardening Workshop

Released August 10, 2017 09:30 AM

Would you like to have a fall vegetable garden?   Our extended growing season allows us to take advantage of three seasons of vegetable gardening.  If you already have a garden, you can extend its productivity.  If you are just beginning, you can learn how to get started without working in the heat of summer.  Autumn’s mild temperatures create perfect growing conditions for cool-season crops; such as, lettuce, kale and spinach. The City of Alpharetta and the Alpharetta Natural Resources Commission are hosting a workshop on Wednesday, August 23 from 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm at the Alpharetta Public Works Department, 1790 Hembree Road, Alpharetta, GA 30009.

This free class, conducted by the UGA/Fulton County Cooperative Extension and the North Fulton Master Gardeners, will cover: summer vs. fall season crops, sustainable gardening techniques, direct seeding and transplanting, frost protection, and preparing the garden for winter.
