Alpharetta Bike Share Program Celebrates One Year Of Healthy, Fun Exploration

Released May 12, 2017 11:57 AM

Created in partnership by the City of Alpharetta and Zagster, Inc., Alpharetta Bike Share turns one year old this month!  With twenty-one cruiser bikes deployed at five locations and available to use for on-demand local trips, Alpharetta Bike Share makes it easy, accessible and affordable to get around town. Officially launched in May 2016, our local bike-share program has been well received, in high-demand, and recognized nationally as a successful municipal model.

Accessing Alpharetta Bike Share is easy!  Bikes can be found via the free Zagster Mobile App for iPhone and Android, or online at www.zagster.com/alpharetta. Each bike has a unique number that riders enter into the app (or online) to obtain a single-use code to open the lockbox on the back of the bike. A key, stored inside and tethered to the lockbox, allows a bike to be secured throughout the ride. The rental ends when a bike is returned to an Alpharetta Bike Share station, allowing the bike to be available for the next rider to enjoy.

Riders join the bike-share program by enrolling for annual or daily passes, with the first three hours free. Additional hours are $3 for daily passes and $2 for annual pass holders. Five linked bike stations are conveniently located in access parking lots along Alpharetta’s Big Creek Greenway, at Avalon, and at Big Creek Park in Roswell:

  • North Point - 6698 North Point Parkway
  • Rock Mill Park – 3100 Kimball Bridge Road
  • Ed Isakson YMCA (front entry) – 3657 Preston Ridge Road
  • Avalon (parking deck) – 2200 Avalon Boulevard
  • Big Creek Park (Roswell) – 1600 Old Alabama Road

Zagster’s unique bike-share program gives users the freedom to ride as long as they want, wherever they want, and features the Zagster 8, an award-winning cruiser bike known for practical design, comfortable ride, and easy handling. Each bike includes a spacious basket, perfect for carrying groceries, takeout, or personal belongings. With rider safety as a priority, every bike comes equipped with automatic lights, full reflectors, and a bell. Zagster strongly recommends that riders wear a helmet from home.
