The Georgia Association of Water Professionals (GAWP) has announced the City of Alpharetta as the 2012 recipient of the Stormwater Program of the Year award. This award recognizes Alpharetta’s commitment to the environment and the natural resources of the City.
The award is given to a county or city for efforts beyond the minimum requirements of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (EPD) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Alpharetta was evaluated on pollution prevention efforts, construction site plan review and inspection program, public outreach and education, and city funded stormwater projects.
The Georgia Association of Water Professionals is a not-for-profit association whose chief purpose is to educate and assist those who have an interest in the proper management and protection of Georgia’s water resources. GAWP provides professional development and promotes sound public policy in the water resources and related environmental fields.
