The section of Haynes Bridge Road between Old Milton Parkway and Academy Street in Downtown Alpharetta will be closed through the end of this year beginning on Thursday, October 11 at 9:00 AM. Motorists will begin seeing digital signs announcing the closure later this week.
While all through traffic will be prohibited while the closure is in effect, the following accommodations have been made to allow public access to destinations within the closure area:
1. A soft closure will be in effect for southbound Haynes Bridge between Academy Street and the truck/delivery entrance to Publix. This will allow access to Publix’s loading dock as well as to Jones Avenue and the adjacent City parking lots. Vehicles traveling east on Jones Avenue will be able to turn left on Haynes Bridge to access Academy Street.
2. Traffic leaving the main Publix parking lot will have the option of using the southern-most exit on Haynes Bridge (by the bank) to turn right to access Old Milton and points south.
Motorists who typically use the northern section of Haynes Bridge Road to access eastbound Academy Street will be directed to a detour route along Westside Parkway. Those motorists who are seeking to use Haynes Bridge to get to State Route 9 should utilize Old Milton Parkway.
The City of Alpharetta is closing the road to complete its Haynes Bridge Road realignment project, which features a traffic circle at the intersection of Haynes Bridge and Thompson Street. The project is necessary for the construction of the new Fulton County Library and the Alpharetta’s City Center redevelopment.
