ALPHARETTA TO HOST A WORKSHOP ON LAWN CARE FOR SPRING AND SUMMER
Lawns add beauty and value to any property; but, often homeowners have questions about the proper way to achieve great looking, healthy lawns in Georgia’s clay soil. The City of Alpharetta and the Alpharetta Natural Resources Commission, along with the North Fulton Master Gardeners, will present a free class on lawn care for homeowners on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm.
The class will be held at the City of Alpharetta Engineering/Public Works Department, 1790 Hembree Road, Alpharetta, Georgia 30009.
Beautiful, healthy lawns require more than simply mowing and fertilizing. The best times for fertilizing and aerating vary for each type of grass: cool-season grass (Fescue) and warm–season grasses (Bermuda and Zoysia).
Properly timed weed prevention will also improve your lawn and save effort later. Even if someone else takes care of your lawn, this seminar will enable you to work with your lawn service more effectively.
Among the topics the class will cover: cool-season vs. warm-season grasses and their spring/summer to-do lists; lawn health; soil testing and adjusting pH; and watering best practices.
