The City of Alpharetta offers four assessments for Homestead Exemptions. They are as follows:
$30,000 Basic Homestead Exemption to residents who own and occupy their residence as of January 1 of each year. This exemption is applied for through Fulton County, and continues as long as the owner's name does not change.
$15,000 Senior Basic Exemption is provided to those residents who are age 65 or older and own and occupy their residence as of January 1 of each year. You must complete an application for exemption with the City of Alpharetta Finance Department-Tax Team. Valid identification is required for proof of age.
$10,000 additional Senior Homestead is offered under the conditions stated above for the Senior Basic exemption and if the property owner meets certain income qualifications.
Senior Full Value exemption is offered to resident who own and occupy their residence. You must be age 70 or older and meet certain income qualifications.

Homestead Exemption, House Bill 1321
House Bill 1321 is a homeowner tax relief bill. Homeowners are given a reduction in their assessment of $8,000.This homeowner's tax relief was enacted by the Governor and the General Assembly of the State of Georgia.
