Commercial Solid Waste

To provide commercial solid waste collection and disposal services within the City of Alpharetta, contractors must first obtain a City of Alpharetta solid waste collection permit. Contractors desiring to perform such services shall make written application to the city for a permit on forms that can be obtained at City of Alpharetta, 2 South Main St. Alpharetta. A $500.00 application fee to defray investigative, administrative and regulatory costs shall accompany all applications. Permits shall be issued to qualified applicants for the full calendar year or for the number of months remaining in the calendar year at the time the application is approved. All permits granted shall expire on December 31st of each year. Commercial contractors desiring to renew their permits shall file a renewal application accompanied by a $500.00 renewal application fee. Renewal application is due by November 15th of each year.

Each Commercial Contractor holding a permit in the City of Alpharetta will be issued a quarterly statement. The statement will reflect a charge of .05 cents per cubic yard of solid waste removed from the City. The following are considered to be solid waste, trash, construction debris, demolition debris, medical waste, yard waste, and rubbish, inert waste, hazardous waste, and any other solid waste not covered under a contract with the City of Alpharetta.

If a Solid Waste Contractor is given a permit to operate in the City limits the following insurance requirements will need to be fulfilled:

Public Liability $500,000.00 per person
  $1,000,000.00 per accident
Property damage $500,000.00 per anyone claim
Performance bond (varies according to number of City contracts)
