Planning and Zoning Division

The routine functions of the Planning and Zoning Division include, but are not limited to the following:

Deal with public inquiries regarding zoning, special uses, buffers, development regulations, master plans and land use

Review plans for compliance with zoning and other requirements

Issue zoning certification letters

Issue Temporary Use approvals

Collect impact fees

Approve plats

Prepare staff analysis for public hearing applications

Prepare public hearing information and/or packets for the Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals, Design Review Board, and Council

Prepare legal ads, post properties and mail notices for public hearings

Type meeting minutes and distribute Action Summary sheets

Process applications for annexation

Develop and maintain data and demographic information

Make population projections and economic forecasts

Develop documents such as the official City Street Map, Profile of Alpharetta brochure and Census at a Glance flier.
