Key responsibilities of an elected official include but are not limited to:
Setting vision, mission and goals for the organization
Establishing a strategic plan for the organization
Setting policy through legislation
Evaluating the City Administrator who reports to the elected body
Reviewing and approving the annual budget
Appointing and evaluating advisory boards and commissions
Follow up on issues and activities between meetings with staff and constituents
Educating and informing programs to citizens
Attending scheduled council meetings, council workshops, public hearings and other meetings as called by the Mayor.
