The Alpharetta Tree Commission is an eight member volunteer board appointed by Mayor and approved by Alpharetta City Council. The focus of the Tree Commission is the care and maintenance of existing trees, Community Service and Public Education. The Tree Commission works with the City Arborist to plan and manage the urban forest in the City of Alpharetta. The goal of the Tree Commission is to create a better and sustainable environmental future for our citizens.

The City of Alpharetta has been designated as a Tree City USA Community (list and include other rewards/grants). Tree City USA Designation has four major components: Tree Board or Department, A Community Tree Ordinance, A Community Forestry Program with an Annual Budget of at Least $2 Per Capita, and An Arbor Day Observance and Proclamation. Tree Growth Award Recipient must be Tree City USA Community and earn at least 10 Points with Community Forestry Activities such as Publicity, Continuing Education for Forestry Managers and Tree Board Members, Tree-care Workshops, Management Plan, Public Utility Tree Care, Street Tree Pruning Program, and Hazard Tree Program.
