Floodplain Information

Every property is at risk of flooding. Insurance agents, lenders, builders, and other professionals use regulatory maps to determine the likelihood of a flood occurring on your property. This page provides links that help you see the maps they use, find out about flood insurance, and learn about updates to the maps.

The City is working in conjunction with Georgia Department of Natural Resources (GA DNR) and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to update the current flood maps. Preliminary Maps were delivered to the City October 2011. An open house meeting is scheduled for Thursday, November 3, 2011 from 6:00pm – 8:30 pm at the Engineering / Public Works building at 1790 Hembree Road. Copies of the preliminary maps can also be found through the link on the left side of this page. There will be a 90-day comment period for the public to make appeals and protests to items shown on the maps. Final maps are expected to be adopted in Fall 2012. Please visit this site often as dates and information will update.
