Art Programs For All Ages In January

Explore your creativity this winter with art programs for all ages, offered by Alpharetta Recreation and Parks through the Alpharetta Arts Annex at Crabapple Government Center:

Clayworks lets youth discover the fun in working with clay to create whimsical projects or decorative pieces. Eight week session for ages 6-12 starts January 9

Cartoon Class develops young cartoonist skills by transforming ordinary objects or animals into silly animated characters. Eight-week session for ages 6-10 starts January 10

Create with Me encourages toddlers to explore art basics through painting, shapes, and ceramics with parent participation. Four-week session for ages 2-5 starts January 10

Mini-Art School teaches students how to transform a simple drawing into a piece of art using pastels, watercolor and collage. Six-week session for ages 6-9 starts January 12

Teen Drawing, Mixed Media, Portfolio Class is designed to assist students in building a portfolio using demos and diverse media. Six-week session for ages 12+ starts January 23

Painting offers instruction in technique at all levels, using oil, acrylic or watercolor to paint from still life or photos, create landscapes or abstracts. Choose classes with instructor Kip Rogers or Maureen Engle. Multi-week sessions for adults start the week of January 10

Sculpture in Clay explores hand building techniques, uses under glazes to create painterly surface, and experiments with color finish. Six-week session for adults starts January 10

Wheel Thrown Pottery focuses on basic techniques for creating clay vessels on the wheel. Six-week session for adults starts January 11

Art with Jen creates winter scene snow globes for this month’s project. One-day workshop for adults ages 50+ at the Adult Activity Center is offered on January 14

Brush and Bean is a fun group setting where a local artist guides steps to replicate a featured painting. One-day workshop for adults is offered on January 25
