Released March 29, 2019 02:41 PM

Following an extensive review of crime data from the FBI and US Census Bureau, Alpharetta was named the 21st safest city in America by Reviews.com, an online consumer research and review firm.  Alpharetta was the highest rated city in Georgia according to the company’s research, which indicates it has among the lowest crime rates in the state and nation for cities with populations of 50,000 or more residents.

“Our team spent over a month analyzing FBI crime reports from the last three years in order to develop our unique scoring methodology for finding the safest cities,” says Meg Cannistra, writer for Reviews.com. We also used the data to estimate an individual’s probability of becoming a victim of crime. By digging into national crime data to rank cities, we aim to give readers a greater understanding of how U.S. cities measure up when it comes to safety.”

Reviews.com analyzed cities on the following criteria:

  •
  • * Violent Crime - The number of violent crime incidents (i.e. murder, rape, and robbery) per 10,000 residents
  •
  • *( Property Crime - The number of property crime incidents per 10,000 residents
  •
  • * Likeliness of being a victim - The number of crimes committed between 2015 and 2017 for each city
