Hexagon, a leading global provider of information technology solutions, has acquired Alpharetta-based mobile app platform provider Catavolt. With this recent acquisition, Alpharetta continues to solidify its status as the “Technology City of the South.”

Catavolt’s team of highly skilled cloud and mobile technologies experts will further Hexagon’s SMART X strategy for developing information network systems with connectivity and efficiency at their core. Catavolt offers an end-to-end platform for mobile application development and delivery, secure cloud orchestration, and real-time edge computing.

Catavolt’s cutting-edge technology accelerates response times by analyzing streaming data in real time at the source before transferring data to the cloud. This process is crucial in critical scenarios such as smart traffic systems.

“When we started Catavolt, Alpharetta was the clear choice because of the enterprise-grade talent that is available here,” said George Mashini, CEO of Catavolt. “That proved to be a big advantage for us as we grew the business and served large Fortune 500 clients with global applications. We look forward to continuing our growth under Hexagon and in Alpharetta.”

“Technology has always been at the heart of Alpharetta, and it’s great to see global companies look towards the city for talent and innovations to technology,” said Mayor Belle Isle. “This acquisition shows the ‘Technology City of South’ is becoming a global technology contributor.”

Hexagon will use Catavolt’s expertise in advancing its digital transformation platform, HxGN SMART Convergence, which coordinates connectivity (IoT), intelligence (AI), and visualization (VR/AR/MR) technologies according to industry-specific needs and user-specific workflows.

Catavolt’s patented, cloud technology is fully open and runs on any cloud platform.

Catavolt has been fully consolidated as of May 9, 2017.
