Rising Flood Waters May Result In Road Closure

Released November 13, 2018 12:23 PM

UPDATE:  5:02 PM - Tuesday, November 13, 2018

Based upon current weather forecasts and USGS information for Big Creek, we DO NOT anticipate the need to close Webb Bridge Road.  While flooding of the Greenway and areas within the floodplain has occurred, there is no current threat to bridges or roadways in Alpharetta.

The City will continue to monitor the situation and will provide new information if the situation changes.

12:23 PM - Monday, November 13, 2018

The City of Alpharetta is closely monitoring rising flood waters along Big Creek at Webb Bridge Road.  Heavy rains have swollen the creek to the point that rising waters are nearing the underside of the bridge.  The City is warning residents to plan for possible detours from Webb Bridge Road today or tomorrow as rising waters threaten the potential for a closure of the roadway.

The City is also monitoring creek crossings on Kimball Bridge Road and Windward Parkway as flood waters rise.

Residents are strongly advised to monitor the City’s website (www.alpharetta.ga.us) and social media feeds for changing information as this situation develops.
