Tax Assessment Notices Coming This Week

Released June 17, 2019 12:38 PM

This week property owners will begin receiving annual notices of property tax assessment from the Fulton County Board of Assessors.  These notices provide the appraised and assessed values for your property along with the estimated taxes itemized by taxing authority (Board of Education, County, and City).

Homeowners who disagree with the assessed value as reflected on their notice of assessment should visit https://fultonassessor.org/property-appeals for information on how to file an appeal. Appeals must be filed by the deadline listed on the assessment notice.

It is important to note that the notices do not reflect the savings that result from any exemptions that apply to your property such as the City of Alpharetta homestead exemption.  Our standard homestead exemption is more than double the amounts offered by other North Fulton cities and saves our homeowners over $2.6 million annually.  Even more savings are available for those over the age of 65.

Special Note:  Alpharetta voters will have the opportunity this Fall to increase our standard homestead exemption from its current level of $40,000 to $45,000.  Look for that question on the regular election ballot later this year.
