Help Alpharetta Be A More Bike Friendly Community

Released March 03, 2023 01:36 PM
The City of Alpharetta and our partners at Bike Alpharetta are working to renew Alpharetta’s designation as a Bike Friendly Community.  As part of that process, we are asking for everyone who bikes in Alpharetta or who is familiar with the bicycling environment here to complete a brief survey to share your thoughts on what is working and how our community can improve.  Your responses will help us shape local strategies and will also be used by the League of American Bicyclists as they evaluate our application.

What Is The Bicycle Friendly Community Program?
A BFC welcomes bicyclists by providing safe accommodations for bicycling and encouraging people to bike for transportation and recreation.

Using the “5E Framework,” the Bicycle Friendly Community program provides a roadmap to improving conditions for bicycling and guidance to help make your community's vision for a better, bikeable community a reality.  The elements of the “5E Framework” are:

Equity & Accessibility: A Bicycle Friendly America for Everyone
Engineering: Creating safe and convenient places to ride and park
Education: Giving people of all ages and abilities the skills and confidence to ride
Encouragement: Creating a strong bike culture that welcomes and celebrates bicycling
Evaluation & Planning: Planning for bicycling as a safe and viable transportation option
