Online Survey Seeks Citizen Input For Alpharetta Ag Plan

Released April 04, 2022 12:45 PM
The City of Alpharetta is asking all residents to complete a brief online survey that will help guide the development of the first Alpharetta Community Agriculture Plan.  A series of five community conversations was also held between March 19 and April 2 as a way of collecting residents’ thoughts for the plan.

A City Agriculture Plan is a set of recommendations that provide a roadmap for the community to build a vibrant and sustainable community food system over the next 5-10 years.  We are looking to you to help us understand what issues and opportunities need to be addressed in this plan.  How does a strong local food system fit into your vision for how Alpharetta is growing?  Topics might include expanding access to local food, strengthening farm-to-school programs, amending city zoning ordinances to better support local growing opportunities, supporting soil health and pollinators, and any other related issue areas.

In January of 2022, the City of Alpharetta was selected to develop the metro Atlanta region's second City Agriculture Plan with the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) and Food Well Alliance.  During the first part of this process, the ARC will work with a steering committee comprised of local community leaders to develop the plan.  Once the plan is complete, Food Well Alliance will assist the City in its implementation.
