Portion Of Northwinds Parkway To Close September 18

Released September 14, 2018 07:37 AM

The northbound lane of Northwinds Parkway between Rowan Avenue and Kimball Bridge Road will be closed for repairs beginning at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, September 18.  The roadway is expected to reopen on Friday, September 21.

Residents of the adjacent Braeden Neighborhood will be able to access the northbound lane from Rowan Avenue, but no northbound through traffic from Old Milton Parkway will be able to reach Kimball Bridge Road.

The repairs will be completed by contractors working for Pulte Group, the developer who originally constructed that section of Northwinds Parkway.  The work is privately funded, and no public taxpayer dollars are being used.

According to Pete Sewczwicz, Director of Public Works for the City of Alpharetta, the portion of the road being repaired became problematic shortly after the developer opened it.  “The road section constructed by Pulte began to sink soon after it was open for use because of boring that took place to install underground utilities related to their development,” Sewczwicz said.  “We immediately notified the developer that they would be responsible for reconstructing that part of Northwinds Parkway to our standards and satisfaction.”

Sewczwicz stated that Pulte Group took full responsibility and quickly worked to determine the cause of the problem, devise an appropriate solution, and schedule the work.
