Released October 28, 2022 07:17 AM
In partnership with the Alpha Loop Foundation, the City of Alpharetta held a groundbreaking ceremony on Monday, October 24, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. City, county, and state officials gathered in celebration of the Alpha Loop's newest expansion that will stretch from Old Milton Parkway to Northwinds Parkway adding connectivity to the Chelsea Walk subdivision, Atley residential development, Westside Parkway, and the Northwinds office campus.

The Alpha Loop connects those that work in Alpharetta by immanentizing employment hubs. Trails of the Alpha Loop serve as connections to activity centers and increase walkability. Increasing walkable greenspace through the creation of the Alpha Loop is one way Alpharetta is continuing to improve quality of life for those who live and work in the area.

The most well-known portion of the Alpha Loop is along Thompson Street, connecting Alpharetta City Hall and Avalon. The Northwinds section will begin to transform how Alpharetta citizens and visitors are able to access the multitude of amenities the city has to offer.

“The Alpha Loop Foundation is excited to partner with the City of Alpharetta, serving to connect all people and help bring the wow factor to the Alpha Loop”, said John Goss, President of the Alpha Loop Foundation.
“Our main goal is to better connect neighborhoods, improve travel and mobility by providing alternatives to driving, promote economic development, and elevate the overall quality of life for Alpharetta’s residents and visitors. The Alpha Loop extension will make that vision possible,” said City of Alpharetta Mayor Jim Gilvin.

The Alpha Loop's $15M extension is the future of a thriving sustainable community that embraces growth and accessibility. Development of the Alpha Loop is a long-term project and will take years to complete.
