Alpharetta / Old Milton County History Museum

2 Park Plaza (Inside City Hall)

The museum is comprised of a permanent collection of artifacts and interpretative displays which guide visitors through a chronological timeline of Alpharetta’s past. Museum visitors see and hear Alpharetta’s history, as listening devices are strategically placed along the museum’s story timeline.

The City’s history is deeply connected with the neighboring cities in North Fulton, therefore the museum reaches beyond the current boundaries of Alpharetta. From 1858 to 1932, Alpharetta was the county seat of Milton County, which encompassed the present-day cities of Johns Creek, Milton, Mountain Park, portions of Roswell, and northern Sandy Springs. This connection is reflected in the collection and variety of displays found throughout the museum.

Museum Hours

Monday–Thursday: 8:30am - 5:00pm
Friday: 8:30am - 4:30pm
Docent-Guided tours are available for groups on the weekends or weekdays by appointment.

Alpharetta Stories Project
A unique feature of the museum is a “Stories Project” kiosk where you can hear the first-hand memories of more than 80 long-standing Alpharetta citizens who helped to shape the community we know today.  Now we have also made those stories available online.
