Pickleball Courts Coming To North Park
Released September 21, 2018 07:11 PM
Our Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Services (ARPCS) will be making some exciting changes to the tennis courts at North Park.
Due to increased interest and participation in the department’s Pickleball Program, tennis courts #4 & #5 at North Park will be converted into six permanent pickleball courts for public use, leagues, clinics, and free play. Construction on the courts will begin Monday, September 24.
The Sports & Fitness Industry Association’s 2017 annual Pickleball Participation Report shows that there are currently 2.82 million players in the United States; an increase of 12.3% over 2016 participation. ARPCS is seeing the same growth and interest in this sport as the rest of the country, and accommodating our citizens is a priority in the City of Alpharetta.
