Create a Fall Vegetable Garden Workshop

Released August 07, 2019 01:36 PM

Would you like to have a fall vegetable garden? Our extended growing season allows us to take advantage of three seasons of vegetable gardening. The City of Alpharetta and the Alpharetta Natural Resources Commission are hosting a workshop on Saturday, August 24, 2019 from 9:30 am – 11:00 am at the Rucker Road Park and Farm, 860 Rucker Road, Alpharetta, GA.

If you already have a garden, you can extend its productivity through fall and winter. If you are just beginning, you can learn how to get started without working in the heat of summer. Autumn’s mild temperatures create perfect growing conditions for cool-season crops, such as lettuce, spinach, broccoli and carrots. This class will cover fall season crops, sustainable gardening techniques, direct seeding and transplanting, frost protection, and preparing the garden for winter.

This free class will be conducted by the UGA/Fulton County Cooperative Extension North Fulton Master Gardeners. Please join us.

Pre-register for this class on Eventbrite at https://bit.ly/2MkihYN by August 23rd.  This is an outdoor setting with active gardens.  Please note that the location may change should thunderstorms be expected.
