Team Gymnastics Program Suspended For 14 Days

Released September 14, 2020 02:40 PM
The City of Alpharetta has been advised that three individuals associated with our team gymnastics program have tested positive for COVID-19 over the weekend. These individuals were asymptomatic when they entered our facility but began feeling ill and displaying symptoms either later in the day or in the days following being in our facility.

Per our protocol, the gymnastics team program is being suspended for 14 days and the individuals who tested positive are quarantined. The parents of all participants have been notified and advised to maintain close observation of the participants and have them tested and consult their physician if symptoms of infection are observed.  Also, per our protocols, the facilities and equipment used by the gymnastics team program are undergoing deep cleaning and disinfecting.

We are notifying the general public out of an abundance of caution so that anyone who has visited the Community Center in the last four days is aware of this situation, as the gymnastics teams practice at that facility.  It is noted, however, that the infected individuals were involved only with the team gymnastics program.  Other programs, including the recreational gymnastics program, are not impacted.

The gymnastics facility is being cleaned and disinfected today and will reopen today at 3:30 PM for recreational gymnastics classes.  All Recreation gymnastics classes and all other scheduled activities at the Alpharetta Community Center will go on as scheduled.
