 VIEWING FOR THE PARADE

The City of Alpharetta and American Legion Post 201 hosts the Annual Old Soldiers Day Parade. The goal of this parade is to celebrate American war veterans and recognize their   service to our country. The City band will begin on Roswell St at 9:15 a.m., the Memorial service at 10:00 a.m. and the parade begins at 10:30 a.m. The parade ends at American Legion Post 201 on Wills Road where there will be free Varsity hotdogs, drinks and plenty of activities.

HISTORY OF THE PARADE

The Old Soldiers Day Parade began years ago as a tribute to veterans of the war between the states, but was discontinued after a few years. Twenty-eight years later, in 1952, a small group of men in Alpharetta re-dedicated Old Soldiers Day Parade in Alpharetta and started having a parade through downtown Alpharetta. Thanks to these few men and their belief in keeping this memorable tradition alive.

Along with the program and parade, this celebration will also feature floats, High School bands, entertainment, children’s activities, and prizes. Free hot dogs and soft drinks will be available at the American Legion at 201 Wills Road, at the conclusion of the parade. With so much to celebrate, take this day to recognize the living memory of American War Veterans.

THE PARADE IS A RAIN OR SHINE EVENT!

Sponsors & Partners

Each City of Alpharetta special event has a main focus, and the non-profit partners who have on-site presence at the event will have a mission that aligns with the main focus of the City of Alpharetta special event. For example, if the event’s main focus is music, all partners’ mission and focus will be related to music. If an organization does not fit the main focus of the event, but wants to have onsite presence at the event, their option would be to become a sponsor of the event.
