Released August 16, 2023 08:45 AM

City Encourages Schools, Families, Organizations and Local Businesses to Participate

Each fall Downtown Alpharetta is alive with creative scarecrows designed and decorated by the community. This sight signals to residents and visitors that fall is officially here and warms the heart of all who pass by or take a downtown walking tour during the month of October.

The scarecrow application process is simple, open to everyone, and only requires creativity! Any family-friendly design is welcome and scarecrow placement will be determined by the City of Alpharetta. Scarecrows will be on display from September 28 – October 30.

Self-guided tours of the scarecrow “patches” are encouraged and detailed maps will be available online once the scarecrow patches are open! For fun, all scarecrows are eligible for this year’s Scarecrow Community Competition.

Scarecrows will be judged the week of October 9th based on the following categories:
     • Most Scary Crow
     • Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Crow
     • Most Creative Crow
     • Most Humorous Crow
     • Coolest School Crow

Winners will be announced at Boo Bash on Saturday, October 21st. Enjoy FREE kids activities, food, crafts, games, and music, and find out if your Scarecrow is a WINNER! Award announcements begin at 6.30 pm. Boo Bash takes place at The Grove located behind Alpharetta Community Center from 5:00-8:00 pm.
